Do you live, work, or build in unincorporated Adams County? We are updating our building code and need to hear from you!

Our building code sets the rules for how buildings are designed, constructed, and maintained in unincorporated Adams County. It impacts the quality, safety, efficiency, sustainability, and cost of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Every six years, Adams County adopts an updated building code that is active in unincorporated area within the County. Cities and towns in the county (e.g. Brighton, Commerce City, Westminster, etc.) adopt their own code that operates within their municipal boundaries. Local governments regularly adopt updated codes to ensure they are up to date with the latest technology and industry best practices. Before the Board of County Commissioners votes to adopt the building code for unincorporated Adams County, staff will review the updated code language, identify potential amendments to meet county-specific needs, and engage key stakeholders and the general public.

We want to hear about your experience with the code, how potential updates may effect you, and what you think we should consider for this update.

Your feedback will be used to inform the adoption of the new building code in 2025.
